Strategic Project Leader

Your tasks and responsibilities


The primary responsibilities of this role, Strategic Project Leader, are to: 


  • Drive together with the head of DS&A and peers the "One DSA" approach, support and further develop the DS&A Vision and Missions and act as a role model in terms the Bayer Values and DSA characteristics;
  • Lead complex or high-priority corporate or strategic projects/ initiatives within Portfolio & Operations;
  • Work cross-functionally with multiple customers and stakeholders in order to shape the project scope, expectations, to secure resources and budget, and to make agreements on deliverables and timelines;
  • Implement an appropriate project infrastructure coupled with an effective governance framework;
  • Apply fit for purpose project management, change management and communication methodologies in collaboration with the DSA Learning and Communication department;
  • Operationalize, track and manage project milestones, costs, resources, risks, quality and timelines and detect problems early throughout the lifespan of the project and implement solutions;
  • Foster an environment of collaborations within the project team and stakeholders;
  • Provide accurate and timely information to customers and stakeholders throughout the lifespan of the project through routine reports, status updates and ad hoc presentations;
  • Prepare the organization for new ways of working by developing and putting into operation an integrated implementation plan, covering change, communication and training;
  • Act as a mentor to junior or less experienced staff;
  • Manage the successful, cost effective and quick execution of strategic projects and initiatives in DSA, this will allow DSA to adapt to quickly changing environmental changes.

Required Qualifications:


  • Master’s degree in Life Sciences with 10 years of Pharmaceutical Industry, Consulting or Project Management experience or a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Life Sciences with 15 years’ Pharmaceutical Industry experience;
  • Possess leadership qualities;
  • Proven track-record leading the initiation and completion of complex and high priority projects;
  • In-depth knowledge of the drug development and commercialization process;
  • Ability to effectively influence without hierarchical authority;
  • Skills in gathering information for decision-making, negotiation; and communicating decisions and actions;
  • Proven ability to manage senior stakeholders;
  • Strong communication skills to ensure that project plans and status are transparent, and that risks, issues, and results are clear to all involved parties;
  • Experience with mentoring/people development;
  • Effective agent of change;
  • Demonstrable competency in project management, change or lean methodologies.
