Residue Analytics Scientist II

Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, Residue Analytics Scientist II, are to: 


  • Perform or assist in performing laboratory based studies to determine the behavior of BCS products in crops, soils, water or animal matrices in full compliance with GLP standards;
  • Act as an Analytical Principal Investigator or Study Director for GLP residue studies, and ensure all tasks associated with the study are compliant;
  • Develop quantitative analytical methods and processing strategies for pesticide residues;
  • Perform residue sample analysis from various matrices (e.g. crop, animal, soil, water, and air) via liquid chromatography or mass spectrometer;
  • Potentially perform identification and confirmation of key degradants and metabolites from radiolabeled environmental fate, and plant and animal metabolism studies utilizing high resolution accurate mass spectral instrumentation;
  • Solve analytical and equipment problems in the laboratory environment and seeks expertise and state of the art techniques from within and outside the company to facilitate problem resolution, when necessary;
  • Potentially direct the work of junior team members performing study tasks, and review work of external contractor research organizations;
  • Evaluate data and prepare reports to address regulatory concerns for submission to regulatory authorities ensuring that the study meets the required business objectives;
  • Participate and communicate with members of the appropriate project/asset teams to ensure that work in progress remains aligned with the regulatory strategy.

Required Qualifications:


  • Ph.D. and 3 years of relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry, Metabolomics, or related field OR M.S. and 5 years of relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry, Metabolomics, or related field;
  • Experience in quantitative analytical method development and trace residue analysis in a variety of matrices with an emphasis on liquid chromatography mass spectrometry-based techniques, or experience in structure elucidation and confirmation of unknown small molecules;
  • Strong analytical technical troubleshooting and problem solving skills;
  • Working knowledge of global regulatory processes and guidelines for crop protection chemicals;
  • Experience working under EPA and/or OECD Good Laboratory Practices regulations;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
