Operator In Training Chemical Operations

Your tasks and responsibilities

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Operator In Training - Chemical Operations, are to:

 

  • Prepare packaging materials;
  • Read and understand standard operating procedures (SOP’s);
  • Stage raw and finished materials;
  • Take required samples during production process;
  • Decontaminate equipment and piping for maintenance or disposal;
  • Utilize Personal Protective Equipment Matrix;
  • Maintain inventories of disposable, production, and safety related materials;
  • Recognize material compatibilities;
  • Handle waste and other contaminated trash per SOP;
  • Conduct charging and filling operations;
  • Operate forklifts;
  • Maintain plant Hazard Communication labeling program;
  • Perform general housekeeping duties throughout the plant area;
  • Assist in product changeover activities
  • Understand basics of plant/unit operations and safety equipment;
  • Learn more complex tasks;
  • Recognize and operates basic process elements;
  • Knowledgeable of RCRA hazardous waste regulations, waste determinations, waste codes, and how to immediately communicate discovery of spills and leaks;
  • Understand labeling, inspection, and recordkeeping requirements to accumulate waste in: satellite accumulation areas, containers, and tanks.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • HS Diploma or GED with at least that level in reading comprehension, writing, and math;
  • One year experience in an Active Ingredients Plant or three years in a manufacturing environment;
  • Ability to use various hand tools, fork trucks, snorkel lifts, dolly’s, manual material handling equipment.
