National Account Executive Trade

Your tasks and responsibilities

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, National Account Executive Trade, are to: 

 

  • Maintain profitable channel strategies for Bayer products at Trade customer accounts;
  • Be responsible for the management of trade channel inventory which includes downstream customers such as retail and specialty pharmacies;
  • Monitor weekly purchasing patterns of wholesalers and all other direct accounts to assure compliance with our Fee for Service Agreements;
  • Lead identification and assessment of new and innovative business opportunities to drive profitable short and long term customer partnerships and institutional sales;
  • Monitor and communicate customer interactions across channels and functions at "Mega-Accounts," and ensure customer insights are collected and shared to create harmonized engagement tactics across the account;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Trade Accounts;
  • Provide input to Medical/Health Economic Outcomes Research (HEOR), Brand Teams and Business Units (BUs), and Legal to build profitable and effective customer strategies and bring appropriate expertise into customer engagement activities;
  • Enable flow of field-base channel insights to Channel Marketing, Brand Teams and BUs to enable better understanding of managed markets customers, market dynamics and competitive trends that could impact profitable access;
  • Provide strategic input to Account Management Strategy (AMS) to ensure activities and tactics align to and support business objectives across Trade accounts;
  • Support Finance  in chargeback disputes, deductions etc.;
  • Attend Industry Conferences, Trade Shows, Trade Associations, Serve on customer and industry Advisory Boards;
  • Serve on customer and industry working committees and Advisory Boards;
  • Provide insight into all Mega Accounts and Key Account Management activities;
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement efforts and knowledge sharing initiatives among account teams to emphasize and disseminate best practices;
  • Work with Business Intelligence (BI) and Contract analytics to report on effectiveness of engagement strategy and tactics with Trade accounts;
  • Align with Brand Profit and Loss (P&L) for optimum revenue flow;
  • Meet departmental and brand expectations inclusive of stretch goals through appropriate resource management, strategic innovative thinking;
  • Drive innovation through novel and best in class approaches;
  • Understand the long term impact based on market dynamics now and in the future, and facilitates strategy, and plan implementation to produce long term profitable access while meeting short term key brand performance metrics;
  • Have strong negotiation capabilities, ability to deliver value despite nominal differentiation.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 12 years related work experience in sales and/or account management in the pharmaceutical industry;
  • At least 3 years’ experience across Trade channel;
  • Keen understanding of drug wholesaler, distributor and retail segments and be able to interact with multiple customers both external and internal;
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or leadership position;
  • Experience executing market access strategies for Trade accounts, and exposure to contract development and negotiations for same;
  • Has in-depth understanding of how Payer and Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) businesses operate and generate revenue;
  • Identifies future policies, practices and trends with Payers and PBM’s and with competition in the marketplace;
  • Consistently applies a business driver and marketplace focus when prioritizing actions with Payers and PBM’s;
  • Sets aggressive goals and has high standards;
  • Pursues everything with energy, drive, and the need to finish;
  • Always keeps the end in sight;
  • Puts in extra effort to meet deadlines and persists in the face of challenges and setbacks;
  • Strong capabilities in managing multiple complex responsibilities/prioritization;

  • Serves as a strategic partner to build, grow, and maintain profitable long-lasting relationships with the Payer and PBM;
  • Models collaboration across Bayer and the customer with indirect leadership acting as the point with ability to drive outcomes enterprise wide;
  • Facilitates dialogue and strategy of a wide variety of stakeholders;
  • Promotes high visibility of shared contributions to goals;
  • Aligns stakeholders for common strategy, gains buy in, sets clear goals;
  • Think and act strategically through joint customer planning, performance reviews, challenging the customer and establishing value for Bayer with PBM/Payer.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • M.B.A. Degree;
  • At least 5 years’ managed markets experience;
  • Focuses on highest priorities and sets aside less critical tasks;
  • Lays out a thorough schedule and steps for achieving objectives;
  • Allocates resources precisely for created implementation plans;
  • Identifies potential obstacles and develops contingency plans;
  • Works diligently to track and manage the progress of their work against the plan.
