Emerging Risk & Security Capabilities Architect

Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, Emerging Risk and Security Capabilities Architect, are to: 

  • Drive end-to-end cloud security architecture;  
  • Maintain overall industry knowledge on latest trends, technology, etc. and serve as subject matter expert for Bayer;
  • Create security patterns for the public, private, and hybrid cloud initiatives;
  • Analyze and design cloud environments, deployments, and security strategy and processes;
  • Demonstrate leadership ability to back decisions with research and the why, and articulate several options, with pros and cons for each, and a recommendation;  
  • Accountable for partnering with stakeholders, IT and Business Teams to ensure understanding of and alignment with their business goals to develop security strategies for Bayer globally;
  • Develop long term security strategies to support business agility and partner with internal business personnel for adoption;
  • Identify and manage security products and vendor relationships pertaining to endpoints, cloud, IoT, API’s Agile development, and emerging security ventures;  
  • Provide recommendations for the selection and Lifecycle Management of 3rd party data security products;
  • Perform Vendor and Application Risk Assessments, and documentation of recommendations;
  • Document security strategies and patterns (Cloud, Managed Services, Reference Architectures), deployment plans, and business data focus;  
  • Provide IT Security consulting services to stakeholders, IT, Business Teams, and projects;  
  • Develop and coach other staff on how to implement security via established patterns.
  • Please note that this role can be based at our office in Creve Coeur, MO, USA or at our office in Leverkusen, Germany.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • 7+ years of relevant Information Security experience;
  • Experience with enterprise IT design concepts and strategies;
  • Working knowledge of the OSI Model;
  • Cloud systems engineering and operational experience (MS Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and/or AWS), including SAAS, PAAS, IAAS, and Serverless;
  • Broad-based working knowledge of cloud platforms, identity federation, networking, application, database, infrastructure and/or server/serverless administration;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of managed services and security best practices;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of encryption technologies;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of security perimeter controls;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with implementing a security control framework (ISO, NIST, COBIT, CIS, CSA);
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with senior leaders to define requirements and implement technology solutions that add value and reduce risk;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with managing complex projects;
  • Strong foundational knowledge of all domains of security;
  • Process oriented and strong documentation skills;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong written skills and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Active CISSP certification preferred
