Drug Product Process Development Summer Intern

Your tasks and responsibilities

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Drug Product Process Development Summer Intern, are to: 

 

  • Generate and execute scientific study protocols for small-scale studies involving filling and freeze-drying process improvements;
  • Prepare samples of prefilled syringes of different materials and surface treatments for stability studies;
  • Analyze prefilled syringe samples by Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and compatibility with Drug Product by High Performance Liquid Chromatography(HPLC) and activity assays;
  • Maintain laboratory notebook under Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) guidelines;
  • Communicate study status and results at group meetings and summarize studies in technical reports and presentations.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Currently enrolled in sophomore year of higher pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree with a focus in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bio Engineering, or Pharmaceutical Sciences;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work effectively within a departmental team;
  • Good organization, documentation, prioritization and scheduling skills together with an overall desire to learn;
  • Basic problem solving abilities;
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task;
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office with beginner level proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Demonstrated potential for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and collaboration with others and independent thought;
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 lbs.;
  • Typical physical requirements for working in laboratory environment;
  • Personal protective equipment (PPD) for both lab environment and pilot lab.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Past laboratory experience or interest in working within a laboratory setting.
