Deputy Director Patient Access Services

Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, Deputy Director Patient Access Services, are to: 

 

  • Collaborate with Strategic Pricing and Reimbursement teams to develop and implement reimbursement and access strategies to gain optimum coverage for the Bayer product portfolio;
  • Collaborate with brand management and functional leaders to plan, develop program designs, select vendors, and implement hub and copay assistance programs to ensure patient access to Bayer products;
  • Consult with brand management to change, modify or discontinue programs based on changing market dynamics among payers, distributors, patients and physicians, or legal and government policies;
  • Develop and disseminate regular reports from hub partners and copay providers to the business units to provide insight into program function and evaluate for improvements;
  • Be responsible for data management and incorporation into Bayer’s data warehouse;
  • Collaborate with Medical and clinical trial sites to plan, develop, and implement the transition of clinical trial and Expanded Access Program (EAP) patients to patient support hubs for commercial coverage;
  • Develop and deliver patient access services educational materials for Bayer field and home office teams;
  • Review, model, and communicate the effect of legislative and regulatory mandates and proposals on reimbursement and patient affordability;
  • Manage a staff of one Associate Director, Patient Access Services.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree with five years’ experience in U.S. Healthcare with an emphasis on reimbursement, hub operations, copay assistance, inventory, and data management OR Master’s degree with three years’ experience in U.S. Healthcare with an emphasis on reimbursement, hub operations, copay assistance, inventory, and data management;
  • Project management skills with the ability to work in a matrix environment;
  • Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal skills to foster collaboration, and oral/written presentation skills;
  • Strong MS Excel and PowerPoint skills, including experience in developing data reporting and the ability to succinctly and clearly communicate data reporting metrics to the leadership team;
  • Ability to simultaneously represent interests of multiple products across portfolio.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Strong understanding of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Medicare Parts A, B, and D, commercial payers, and legislative/policy issues and how they affect reimbursement of Bayer’s and competitors’ products;
  • Understanding of compliance regulations and guidance governing copay and hub services;
  • Knowledge and experience across several therapeutic areas -- experience in oncology, rare diseases, neurology, and/or women’s healthcare;
  • Excellent understanding of market access needs across key segments;
  • Experience in providing education to the Sales Force on patient access services;
  • Experience in hub planning, vendor selection, program development and implementation, and operations monitoring;
  • Extensive knowledge of planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating copay assistance programs;
  • Knowledge of nursing programs, supply chain, specialty pharmacy operations, and inventory management;
