Deputy Director Health Economics Outcomes Research

Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, Deputy Director Health Economics Outcomes Research, are to: 

 

  • Lead the development and implementation of the U.S. Health Economics Outcomes and Research (HEO&R) Strategies for a particular therapeutic area or a portfolio of 2-3 products;
  • Be responsible for the HEOR Plan and integrated as part of the U.S. Brand Plan;
  • Design and conduct studies including outcomes, economics and epidemiology studies;
  • Ensure timely development of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) dossiers, budget impact models and other supporting materials for Managed Care Organizations (MCOs);
  • Lead U.S. multi-functional team (Clinical, MSLs, Commercial Business Units (BUs) and Market Access) to develop health economics value;
  • Interact with MCOs, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to deliver value messages for product pricing and reimbursement, and utilization;
  • Approve Investigator Initiated Research (IIR) proposed studies related to their Therapeutic Area (TA) or product responsibilities as a member of the IIR Committee;
  • Develop communication and publication strategies for HEOR;
  • Manage budget for HEOR area of responsibility to within +/- 2% per year ;
  • Ensure U.S. HEOR strategies are aligned with U.S. Medical, Commercial BUs as well as globally with Global Market Access, Global Epidemiology, and Global Real World Evidence;
  • Make recommendations to the Head of U.S. HEOR for organizational structure;
  • Monitor any U.S. policy and reimbursement changes.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values.  More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Ph.D. or Pharm.D. or M.D. or equivalent degree in Economics, Epidemiology and Health Care Research Experiences;
  • At least five (5) years’ progressive experience in health economics and outcomes research in the pharmaceutical industry;
  • A sound understanding of Health Economic Research Principles;
  • Ability to think strategically and make sound health economic and business decisions;
  • A sound understanding of pricing, reimbursement and government agency requirements, as well as the competitive economic dynamics of the pharmaceutical industry in key markets;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • A good understanding in the multi-cultural corporate environments;
  • This position requires a minimum of 15-20% travel.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • At least one to two (1-2) years’ experience in managing project teams;
  • Experience in two (2) or more therapeutic areas.
