Bayer Crop Science Customer Marketing Manager - Business Assurance Area

Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, Bayer Crop Science, Customer Marketing Manager – Business Assurance are to:


  • Assist Bayer reach customers and deliver value to firms who service and provide pest related prevention measures in Food Safety industry. The position is within an established business team focused on Pest Management and Public Health but interacts frequently with an internal Start-up Venture within Bayer. The candidate will work across multiple points in the value chain for Food Safety, developing Go-To-Market strategies for solutions that include both chemistry and digital services enabled by IoT technology. Success will be dependent on the ability to manage ambiguity within a dynamic market. This role reports to the Head of Marketing for Pest Management and Public Health;
  • Demonstrate a passion and focus on Food Safety professionals for the purposes of generating ground breaking insights and delivering exceptional customer experiences that will set Bayer apart as a market and thought leader.


The main areas of focus will be:


  • Contribution to delivery of new services platforms for Bayer.  This involves understanding the customer experience at various points along the adoption journey and creation of Brand marketing touchpoints that will drive adoption of our new services, while delighting the customer. The candidate will work closely with the marketing counterparts on internal Start-Up Venture teams;
  • Build, update and lead execution of 18 month (current & +1 Market Year) Business Assurance segment strategies to drive value creation for Bayer’s portfolio of brands and services through effective communications, promotions, programs and customer communications tools (CRM, 1:1 marketing);
  • Leveraging marketing research and analysis to inform critical business decisions.  This is where business analytics and marketing strategy converge to outpace the competitive market and drive success for Bayer as we create a new market.



Other major responsibilities of this role, Bayer Crop Science, Customer Marketing Manager – Business Assurance are:


  • Segment customers and define customer journey / buying processes with segments (Food Safety pest management) to acquire new customers, drive adoption, and create advocates;
  • Leverage databases to develop and deliver targeted, efficient and effective campaigns; creating demand for service offerings by both Bayer and our service providers;
  • Set performance targets, allocate resources, and measure for success;
  • Ensure ongoing consistency between product and service strategies, brand strategies, go-to-market strategy and market operational plan;
  • Conduct ongoing benchmarking against key competitors at market level (operational structure, launch strategies and lifecycle management strategies) ;
  • Identify and leverage sources of influence within market (distribution, industry groups, partnerships/NGO's, governmental, etc.) to deliver on customer behavior change;
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities within market for collaboration with US and Global marketing;
  • Identify and make recommendations on resources and personnel required to execute go-to-market strategy and operational plan.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or appropriate related field, with a minimum of 10 years’ marketing experience;
  • Ability to effectively inform and influence teams;
  • Ability to analyze and refine financial forecasts;
  • Ability to understand and create long-term strategic plans, including collaboration on  new products for testing and potential market launch;
  • A proven work history of acting as a team player with outstanding organizational and analytical skills;
  • Ability to collaborate with Marketing counterparts to maximize sales opportunities;
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills necessary to anticipate market trends, pre-empt and deal with volatile, rapidly changing market conditions; 
  • Deep understanding of end-user, applicator and distribution channel needs and motivators;
  • General computer proficiency including standard email and business software (Microsoft Office.)


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master’s degree;
  • Experience in Professional Pest Management or Public Health;
  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of Marketing.
