Assistant Manager, Sales Operations

Your tasks and responsibilities


The primary responsibilities of this role, Assistant Manager, Sales Operations, are to: 


  • Support internal execution of national and retailer (or channel) specific promotional or shopper program tactics including, but not limited to, displays, fixtures, bonus packs, coupons and point of sale materials for any or all of the following:
    • Bayer retailer or channel specific self-care regimen programs;
    • Retailer-specific themed marketing events;
    • New item launches;
    • Retailer-specific promotions;
    • Customer selling team customized promotions, as approved based on internal minimum requirements;
  • Collaborate with internal logistics team to ensure promotional shipments meet customer supply metrics;
  • Support the design & development of displays/fixtures, delivering upon customer requirements for quantities, dimensions, structure-type, product mix, etc.;
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain art style guides to support Bayer brand equities; appropriately align with retailer specific marketing requirements, as needed;
  • Responsible for securing approvals from internal stakeholders for visuals of national or account-specific programs;
  • Monitor display and other merchandising trends in the marketplace, ensuring Bayer offers highly engaging and innovative displays/fixtures that strengthen Bayer’s brand equities;
  • Manage contact and communication with relevant external agencies based on program needs;
  • Help to minimize waste and scrapping of displays and trade promotion packs by actively managing quantities throughout the entire process and working through appropriate channels to dispose of remnants.

Required Qualifications:


  • Education:  Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years of progressive sales experience in the consumer packaged goods industry or Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years of progressive sales  experience in the consumer packaged goods industry;
  • Leadership skills:  Results driven while being able to work well within a matrixed team environment (building strong relationships and showing organizational agility); a self-starter who’s highly motivated;
  • Has a developing track record of delivering requirements through others and works well within a complex environment based on collaborating with sales team and/or cross-functional partners;    
  • Financial acumen:  Developing financial management skills; able to conduct basic ROI analysis in order to track and deliver cost effective trade promotions while maximizing sales and profit return;
  • Industry expertise:  Developing knowledge of individual retailers, their promotional requirements and the overall marketplace including key competitive brands and their support tactics; 
  • Communication skills:  Solid communication skills, has shown the ability to develop and deliver clear and concise presentations, describe actions needed; able to adjust approach to a variety of personalities and functions;
  • Exemplifies developing critical thinking abilities through multi-task problem solving (i.e., process and project management), has shown practical judgment and basic financial analysis;
  • Negotiation skills: Acts as intermediary across multiple groups to focus team on common output/objectives.  Has some experience in adjusting timelines and processes to meet overall customer requirements; developing problem solving and contingency planning skills; 
  • Technical skills:  Solid computer literacy skill required, specifically MS Excel and PowerPoint.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Direct selling experience.
