2nd Shift Maintenance Technician-Animal Health

Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician-Animal Health, are to: 

  • Support manufacturing by troubleshooting industrial equipment and providing process resolution for malfunctions. Perform GMP calibrations and preventive maintenance on production equipment. Provide support for production projects;
  • Comply with all workplace standards and safety procedures,including Lockout /Tagout, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements (OSHA), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Company Guidelines;
  • Continuously maintain production machinery with the objective to improve system performance and efficiency. Perform equipment repairs for production areas and assist with installation, verification and startup of new processes and systems;
  • Test and calibrate instrumentation that includes pressure, temperature, weight, flow, rotational and analytical devices. Perform preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and accurately document GMP activities;
  • Take ownership of training and learning to develop high performance competencies such as technical skills, communication skills, and customer (production) support skills; 
  • Maintain good organization and housekeeping;
  • Provide input and recommend spare part needs for equipment;
  • Provide input and assistance developing and revising maintenance SOPs and JHAs;
  • Meet the Production and Shutdown schedules outlined by Production Planning and CMMS respectively for manufacturing of quality products safely and efficiently;
  • Perform other duties as trained and assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required;
  • A minimum of (2) years accredited/certified training (i.e. vo- tech) in electrical, electronic and/or mechanical technologies;
  • A minimum of (2) years industrial hands-on experience maintaining production machinery in a manufacturing environment. Maintenance experience maintaining production machinery in a manufacturing environment. Maintenance experience specializing in industrial PLC electronics, machining, welding and/or metrology preferred.Electrical, Mechanical and/or Technical aptitude required with a demonstrated ability to successfully changeover and set up multiple types of manufacturing equipment supported with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills;   
  • Must have a good working knowledge of hand and power tools and properly use the correct tools and NIST traceable test equipment for the tasks assigned. Such test equipment includes multimeters, RTD’s, temperature baths, dry blocks, pressure   indicators, dew point monitors, tachometers, timers, weights, scales, and dimension indicators;
  • Must be able to follow SOPs, properly perform the calibration and preventive maintenance tasks, and correctly document these activities in both electronic and hardcopy formats;
  • Must be able to rotate to any shift based upon production support needs and training opportunities. Must also be willing to work overtime as required based on production and project demands;
  • Must have excellent organization and interpersonal skills and demonstrate ability to work effectively in both individual and team environments. Good written and verbal communication skills in English required;
  • Good personal computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel required. Previous experience using electronic databases and on-line tools required, but not limited to, SAP,  SharePoint and the use of intracompany on-line tools;
  • The employee must have the aptitude to perform the following actions;
  • Calculating math problems, technical reading and writing at a high school level;
  • Using analytical skills for troubleshooting various types of industrial machines and their controls;
  • The ability to read/interpret/follow instructions in regard to workplace documentation such as SOPs, operator manuals and work instructions;
  • Using both U.S. and E.U. formats of machine specifications, schematics and mechanical drawings.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Mechanic Technician: Good working knowledge of machinist and welding skills and use of shop equipment such as a metal lathe, vertical end mill, tig welder, orbital welder. Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing equipment and fabricating parts. Experience performing preventive maintenance on production equipment using CMMS is preferred;
  • PCS technician: Good working knowledge of electronic technician and electrical skills and use of PCS electrical diagnostic equipment. Hands-on experience using a laptop PC for PLC, servo, and VFD troubleshooting and repairing machine controls and circuitry per NEC. Experience performing calibrations on production equipment using CMMS is preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely in a production environment required. Experience in a government regulated, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or standard operating procedures (SOP) environment required, in a pharmaceutical environment preferred.
