Trait Integration Genome Design Scientist I
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Trait Integration Genome Design Scientist I, are to:
- Execute the technical strategy to design improved cohorts of germplasm that are aligned with Product Concept targets from initial crossing through the handoff to Product Development;
- Responsible for forward-designing genomes to create products aligned to customer needs via smart deployment of discrete genomic targets from our global germplasm pool or via other means of genomic manipulation;
- Supports projects in collaboration with partner teams across Crop Science (regional Plant Health teams, Genome Design, Biotechnology) to accelerate discovery and effective utilization of new genomic targets associated with key traits;
- Identifies key areas of opportunity for new technology implementation and/or process improvement, while positively contributing to a collaborative, innovative, and design-centric culture;
- Supports the Health Safety & Environment, Compliance, Business Conduct and Human Rights policies and culture.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our life values, more specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Genomics, Biology, Genetics, Plant Science, Molecular Biology, Evolution, or other relevant scientific field OR Master's degree with 3 or more years of relevant experience;
- Strong understanding of the genomic control of physiological and biochemical pathways in plants or animals and how to define genome/trait associations;
- Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and leverage complex biological datasets and translate them into testable hypotheses;
- Experience with advanced computational and analytical tools in Molecular Biology, Genetics, or Biochemistry;
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams to achieve common goals;
- Demonstrated experience leading and influencing activities of cross-functional teams without direct reporting relationships;
- Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities;
- Results oriented with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously;
- Ability to travel independently both domestically and internationally up to 10%.

Position may be based in Chesterfield, MO (St. Louis area) or other approved US site.
Position may include opportunity to work remotely up to 50%.
