Sr Data Engineer
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Data Engineer, are to:
- Participate in and occasionally lead design sessions with Enterprise Data Stewards, Data Engineering teams, Data Scientists, Product Managers, business and Information Technology (IT) stakeholders, that result in tangible documentation for data processing, data hierarchies, data storage and solution delivery;
- Understand business capability needs and processes as they relate to IT solutions through partnering with Product Managers and business and functional IT stakeholders and apply this knowledge to influence the decision-making process driving business goals;
- Support evaluation of implementing new technologies, like Reltio, Snowflake, LiveRamp or AWS Native, with established products such as Veeva Network, including performing Proof of Concepts (POCs) and presenting results to others, with a goal of providing optimal technical recommendations;
- Advise the team on establishing and improving processes and methodologies, like SCRUM or Kanban, and/or lead piloting new ones;
- Implement data solutions according to design documentation using a variety of tools and independent from programming languages, like Kafka, SQL and non-SQL databases, Scala, R, Kubernetes etc., and following team’s established processes and methodologies;
- Facilitate and participate in code reviews, retrospectives, functional and integration testing and other team activities focused on improving quality of delivery;
- Provide reliable estimates for large scale project, be able to translate business demand for global teams to enable scaled solutions;
- Collaborate with Product Owners, other engineers and data stewards within the team and across data, technical platforms and product teams on executing and aligning roadmaps, delivery dates and integration efforts;
- Be able to successfully discuss work, provide detail or influence the right level of audience: business partners, data scientists, engineering teams and other teams including IT leadership;
- Create and maintain design and code documentation in GitHub, Haystack and/or another repositories used by the team;

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of applicable business experience OR Master’s degree with eight years OR Doctorate with at least two years OR at least eight years of applicable business experience;
- Experience in participating in the build and support of MDM, Data Platforms and design principles;
- Demonstrated experience leading data modeling and architecture design efforts, including designing both logical and physical models for datasets;
- Proficiency in working with relational databases such as Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, etc;
- Proven experience modeling large datasets in distributed databases such as Snowflake;
- At least two years of experience with at Veeva Network;
- Proven experience providing reliable estimates for large scale Projects;
- Experience contributing to open source projects;
- Strong interpersonal skills and desire to work in a highly collaborative environment;
- Familiarity with the relevant industry trends.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Have experience in Pharmaceuticals, life sciences, bioinformatics or related disciplines;
- Have experience in Cloud-native solutions, Veeva Network and MDM technologies, such as Reltio;
- Knowledge of machine learning or other data science practices.
