Senior Associate Research Scientist in Vivo
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Associate Research Scientist in Vivo are to:
- Independently design and conduct experiments, assays, or operational procedures of a complex and non-routine nature in support of drug discovery projects in Oncology;
- Independently analyze and interpret results, systems or procedures;
- Troubleshoot failed experiments, assays or procedures and overcome obstacles and develop alternative experimental approaches;
- Exercise sound technical judgment to solve a range of scientific problems;
- Recommend new and innovative solutions to problems utilizing knowledge of unit operations, scientific creativity, independent thought and proficiency;
- Interact with other departments on projects and contribute to overall success of specific project;
- Interpret and effectively communicate scientific findings in one on one discussions and/or departmental meetings;
- Take initiative in keeping current with oncology field;
- Presents complete data summaries and possibly contribute to scientific literature;
- Present projects and literature reports in a public forum;
- Ensure that laboratory notebooks are consistently updated, audited, and well maintained;
- The incumbent will work on programs to identify novel drug targets and validate them and contribute to drug discovery program in oncology.

Required Qualifications:
- Five years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D;
- Understanding of drug discovery processes and development process;
- Experience in state of the art in vivo laboratory techniques (in vivo studies on mouse and rat with focus on xenograft studies with po, ip and iv treatment, establishment of orthotopic and transgenic mouse models);
- Demonstrate ability to collect blood samples via different routes (tail vein, submandibular, retro orbital, cardiac puncture);
- Demonstrate ability to design and perform experiments; assays, methods development, validation, scale up or operations;
- Demonstrate ability to independently troubleshoot problems requiring original thought;
- Demonstrate knowledge in field of expertise (i.e. unit operation, of literature, new developments, technologies and regulations);
- Ability to apply scientific principles to the design and interpretation of scientific experiments;
- Ability to exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criterion for obtaining results;
- Ability to solve routine to complex operation and scientific problems requiring original thinking and deductive reasoning;
- Can prepare reports and interpretation and can interpret the results of complex experiments;
- A team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrate ability to design and implement ex vivo analysis of samples collected from in vivo trials (e.g., tumors, skeletal muscles and mesenteric lymph nodes) experiments using a wide variety of molecular/cellular techniques, e.g. immunophenotyping (flow cytometry), immunoblotting (Western), cytokine profiling, gene expression profiling (RT PCR), Multiplex ELISA, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence staining;
- Experience in aseptic surgery techniques (castration, prostate, kidney intrafemoral, intrasplenic, liver, bursal and mammary);
- Experience with in vivo imaging techniques (Bioluminescence, Xray, PET/SPECT) to image orthotopic tumor growth or compound biodistribution;
