Protein Scientist Co-Op
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Protein Scientist Co-Op are to:
- Design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments for the desired outcome;
- Develop and revise protocols and assays utilizing biological samples protein expression, purification, and QC for downstream applications;
- Prepare and handle biological samples, including dissection of various tissues;
- Document protocols in detail for all workflows to ensure knowledge transfer to Protein Structure and Mechanism team members;
- Collaborate with Protein Structure and Mechanism team members and other Bayer stakeholders to deliver results;
- Comply with all safety, stewardship, and IT information security policies and regulations;
- Present final project/findings to the team and other stakeholders upon completion of the Co-op position.

Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or Master of Science, pursuing a degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Structural Biology, or Biology;
- Registered and currently enrolled in a graduate program;
- Prior experience in protein expression and purification and handling biological tissue samples;
- Demonstrated dedication and focus to efficiently using problem-solving skills to address outstanding, complex, and or difficult biological questions;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in probing and characterizing protein-protein interactions using biochemistry and biophysical methods.
