Data Scientist Intern - Optimal Process Design
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Data Science Intern, are to:
- Drive research lab optimization by providing technical contributions in a fast-paced team environment to accelerate our efforts to simulate existing and new pipeline processes;
- Develop Operations Research (OR) models to simulate business processes and drive efficiencies;
- Identify and communicate insights from and practical applications of OR modeling results for research lab stakeholders;
- Perform data analyses and apply statistics to support modeling efforts and answer business questions;
- Collaborate with experts across disciplines including laboratory science, data science, IT and operations;
- Present compelling, validated results to team members and stakeholders throughout, and at the conclusion, of the internship.

Required Qualifications:
- Pursuing Master of Science or Ph.D. in Operations Research, Engineering, Management Science, Mathematics, or another related quantitative discipline;
- Demonstrated problem solving experience analyzing complex data using statistical and advanced analytical methods to deliver predictive and prescriptive insights;
- Theoretical and practical experience in developing and evaluating operations research algorithms for simulation and optimization;
- Strong in programming, statistical packages, and database languages (ex. Java, R, Python, Scala, SQL and OPL);
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills;
- Ability to work in a matrix environment and influence people at varying levels of responsibility;
- Candidates must demonstrate business aptitude, the ability to rapidly learn new problem domains and become conversant in the domain with business users.
Entirely remote jobs that could be performed in Colorado: employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately $32.00 to $40.50. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
