Breeding Line Quality Lead
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Breeding Line Quality Lead are to:
- Lead the Global Plant Breeding Line Quality (LQ) program including the creation and execution of the Global Plant Breeding LQ strategy that enables the continuous evolution of the business while consistently delivering the highest quality pipeline, on-time handoffs, and maintaining compliance to ensure our License to Operate (LtO);
- Lead cross-functional efforts with leadership and key stakeholders in Breeding, Plant Biotechnology, Product Supply, Regulatory, and Market Development to influence and align on LQ and stewardship risk management strategies across the broader Bayer Crop Science organization;
- Identify key strategic stewardship risk factors and facilitate determination of process exposure including implementation of the right sized management and mitigation measures across regions and business functions;
- Partner with the Breeding Trait Quality and Seed Movement Program Lead, Regulatory and functions across Bayer to enhance Corporate-level Trait Quality policies and procedures and translate requirements into Breeding policies and procedures to mitigate and manage LQ, TQ, and stewardship risks;
- Partner with Breeding teams to develop and implement Breeding level policies and procedures in alignment with the LQ Program;
- Continue to evolve our LQ Program through development of training suites and education programs, for Breeding leaders and employees, designed to ensure the program remains current and sustainable with our evolving business and instructs on the desired outcomes of the stewardship program;
- Partner with Breeding Leadership to grow the LQ and stewardship risk management culture within the Breeding Organization;
- Ensure the desired outcomes of the stewardship program are achieved;
- Define, track, and evaluate performance metrics to identify opportunities to drive improvement opportunities;
- Identify key strategic stewardship risk factors and facilitate determination of process exposure including implementation of right-sized management and mitigation measures across regions and business functions;
- Develop line quality testing strategies in alignment with Breeding business and key functional partners and ensure the implementation;
- Assist in the review of Global Material Transfer Requests (GMTRs) and complete thorough stewardship risk assessments, assign stewardship terms and conditions, and determine approvals for internal and external material transfers globally;
- Partner with the Breeding Trait Quality & Seed Movement Program Lead to develop and execute global line (seed) movement strategies in compliance with Breeding s Product Purity Playbooks and Material Movement Playbooks;
- Lead and execute day-to-day LQ operations and support for Global breeding teams;
- Provide leadership and drive talent development for a team of dotted line reports;
- Design strategies to develop TQ and SM professionals across the organization, develop leadership skills and prepare talents for rotation across Bayer;
- Communicate timely and relevant updates to the organization, senior leaders, and key stakeholders;
- Develop and lead the execution of the LQ audit validation strategy to
- evaluate the extent of compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies and procedures, and oversee corrective actions processes;
- Lead our LQ Incident Management Process through the investigation of potential breaches of laws, regulations, agency permits, and internal policies and procedures, and oversee Regulatory reporting and corrective actions processes;
- Provide strategic direction for IT system development and system improvements supporting the LQ Program.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's with at least 10 years of relevant experience o Master’s degree with at least eight years of relevant experience or Ph.D. with at least five years of relevant experience;
- At least five years of program, project, and or people leadership experience;
- Risk management experience with excellent decision-making skills;
- Experience in Plant Breeding or familiarity with plant breeding lifecycle, technology, and methodologies;
- Project management experience with the ability to prioritize and drive projects to completion while working under tight timelines;
- Experience in the application of IT solutions to support business operations;
- Demonstrated successful collaborations across teams, in a matrix environment, leading and influencing people at varying levels of responsibility;
- Ability to coach, mentor, and develop other team members to become adopters of culture, processes, and tools;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to excel in an ambiguous environment; thinking objectively and leveraging information to develop corporate strategies and guidelines that effectively balance TQ, SM, risk, and operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Plant Breeding, Agronomy, Molecular Biology, Quantitative Genetics, Biostatistics, or related discipline;
- Experience in agricultural business operations;
- At least five years of experience with Compliance and or Trait Quality;
- Proficient in Bayer s enterprise data management and analysis software;
- Experience leading IT strategies and building solutions to meet changing business needs;
- Experience with ISO9001 and/or Quality Management Systems;
- Experience with LEAN philosophies and or Six Sigma methodologies.
