Mechanical Integrity Inspection Engineer

Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, Mechanical Integrity Inspection Engineer, are to: 

  • Perform inspections and Non Destructive Testing (NDT) on process equipment, atmospheric tanks, pressure vessels, welding applications, secondary containments and piping systems in accordance with Mechanical;
  • Integrity, Welding, Process Safety Management, and Quality Assurance procedures and guidelines;
  • Manage mechanical integrity inspection program;
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to plant inspectors on mechanical integrity requirements;
  • Serves as materials expert and plant representative for design, construction and implementation of investment projects – interfacing with technical professionals from other disciplines (e.g. Corporate engineering, project engineering, environmental and utility services operations, and process development);
  • Ensure overall regulatory compliance of equipment and associated documentation based on OSHA, HHM and other internal guidelines;
  • Utilize RBI (Risk Based Inspection) software system to analyze data and develop next inspection technique and frequency;
  • Respond to production area questions and troubleshooting requests;
  • Support the project group by attending project reviews and providing timely answers to their requests;
  • Develop, generate and revise mechanical integrity & welding systems procedures and SOP’s according to corporate and federal guidelines;
  • Maintain site welding program and all welder certification documentation;

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering;
  • Minimum of 5 years engineering experience;
  • Minimum 2 years mechanical integrity inspection experience;
  • Ability to enter confined spaces;
  • Knowledge of API and ASME codes, RBI methodology;
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain API 510, 570, 580, 653 certifications and ASNT Level 1 & 2 certifications for visual, ultrasonic thickness, liquid penetrant inspection techniques.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials or Chemical);
  • Minimum of 5 years engineering experience in the chemical industry;
  • Knowledge of weld and equipment repair procedures.
