Bayer Animal Health Category Leader

Your tasks and responsibilities

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Bayer Animal Health Category Leader are to:

 

  • Strategically align and build relationships with all levels of select retail customers.  Understand the strategic direction of Bayer and key Customers and provide tactical execution to deliver to aligned strategies;
  • Develop as a “Retail Expert” in the area of shopper back category perspective.  Align insights from multiple sources to include IRI, GFK, Customer Data sources, Bayer Research and other external influences to provide a point of view for capturing and converting customers to the Bayer portfolio of goods;
  • Maximize customer headquarter and retail performance execution by effectively using available resources such as: recommendations on customer trade funds, business area and Marketing support staff, syndicated research (IRI), GFK and other service providers.  Understand the initiatives that drive the business and work within the Pet Specialty Team to maximize these opportunities;
  • Develop and execute customer specific, fact-based sales presentations using brand, market and consumer knowledge in conjunction with the Category & Shopper Solutions Team Leader. The goal of these presentations will be to effectively build the business while providing a positive return on investment for Bayer Animal Health and the customer; 
  • Lead monthly business review with Brand teas and provide forecasting recommendations by brand. A deep focus on ‘Shopper Back’ retail perspective is essential;
  • Develop POG recommendations based on data led expertise and use of technology and creative support to present for customer review. Work in conjunction with the Customer Category Analyst to assess data, streamline data towards an end goal and be prepared to discuss/present/leverage data knowledge with the customer to achieve an end goal;
  • Provide internal retail expertise and ensure smooth flow of business across corporate functions that impact retail and support of new product commercialization. These include but are not limited to Controlling, Legal, Logistics, Customer Service, Business Forecasting, Vet Tech Services, etc;
  • Maintain awareness of developments within the Vet channel and ensure the Pet Specialty Team is at all times aware of developments. Utilize an on-going “SWOT” analysis to provide this awareness;
  • Review and approve trade fund claims along with program performance monitoring; which includes budget review and management of promotional spend.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Marketing, Sales or Business Administration;
  • Minimum three years’ of Consumer Package Goods (CPG) experience and with proven category management expertise. And/or three plus years’ in a lead strategic role involving forecasting, consumer/business insights that led to ‘go to market’ retail initiatives;
  • Candidate must be intently customer focused, have strong business insight, overly collaborative and the ability to manage complexity with competing priorities;
  • The candidate will be a key voice in setting vision, purpose and direction.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Masters’ Degree in Business Administration preferred with greater than three years’ experience in Consumer Package Goods (CPG) experience and with proven category management expertise.  And/or greater than three years’ experience in a lead strategic role involving forecasting, consumer/business insights that led to ‘go to market’ retail initiatives.
